Although many luxury car brands limit their production in the United States, BMW has still made substantial contributions to Americans on a state-level. According to bmwgroup.com, After 78 years, BMW begin producing cars in the U.S. and they opened a production plant in 1994 near Spartanburg, South Carolina.
This facility is still the only existing BMW manufacturing location in the United States. Nevertheless, BMW has managed to create jobs for thousands of Americans. While it was originally estimated that BMW manufacturing operations in the U.S. would employ 2,000 people, today they commission over 7,000 South Carolinians on site every day.
This does not include the almost 10,000 jobs that have emerged through BMW supplier operations. Along with creating jobs, BMW has helped to substantially grow the state’s economy by putting upwards of $6 billion dollars into their South Carolina operations.
Because BMW cares about Americans and the future of the United States, they have invested in various initiatives to improve and further the quality of education in the U.S. The Call Me MISTER program, of which BMW is a founding partner, strives to broaden the pool of accessible teachers from diverse backgrounds. With a valued role in their community, and the economic benefit they provide for their region, America is lucky to host a piece of BMW.
