Since its early beginnings in the early to mid 1900’s producing motorcycles and internal combustion engines, Honda has now evolved into one of the largest automobile manufactures in the world. Wanting to create their products in closer proximity to the customers who purchased them, Honda decided to invest in production and manufacturing in the United States.
In just the last two years, Honda put in $1.2 billion into their American facilities, bringing their total U.S. investment to over $14 billion. For over 30 years now, Honda has created 147,000 jobs in their dealerships alone. Not to mention the thousands of employees working in the nine manufacturing facilities across the country. Those employees are also responsible for producing ninety percent of the Honda vehicles sold in America in 2012, accruing around $14 billion in capital investment.
Honda was also the first overseas auto manufacturer to have complete production and manufacturing in America. Honda spent over $22 billion in buying materials and parts in 2012 here in the U.S. In turn, that required around 13,500 American companies to supply Honda with their services, inevitably boosted the American economy again.
Honda has also benefited America outside the automotive industry by giving back to the community. From associates in Alabama donating more than 3,200 items during a toy and food drive, to opening the Eagle Rock School and Professional Development Center in Estes Park, Colorado.
Honda does truly care about this country, and we are honored to have them opening stateside factories, employing hardworking Americans, and giving back to the communities that surround them!
