Kia Motor Company is the fifth largest automobile manufacturer in the world, assembling over 1.4 million vehicles annually in 8 countries. Until recently, the United States was not a part of Kia’s vast global operations.
However, in 2010 Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia, Inc., or KMMG, officially came to fruition in West Point, Georgia, and began mass producing the 2011 Kia Sorento for American consumption. This $1 billion dollar manufacturing plant sits on 2,259 acres and proudly maintains the title of the largest project in the history of Georgia.
In addition to the Sorento, Kia’s most successful vehicle in the United States, KMMG also manufactures the 2012 Kia Optima. At the West Point facility alone, Kia employs over 3,000 hard-working American people. Throughout the entire region, more than 10,000 jobs have been created through opportunities at KMMG suppliers.
Further aiding America’s future success, Kia stresses the environmental protection of their region in the United States and worldwide. They understand the importance of efficiently producing high-quality vehicles while still serving to protect the quality of our environment.
Kia also contributes to their Georgia community by donating to various charities and organizations, such as the Scouts of America and local fire stations. With their contribution of jobs, mindfulness of the environment, and charitable donations, Kia continues to be a benefit to the American community.
