In March of 1912, John Lane bought a box plant in Altavista, Virginia, and with a little nudge from his father, Ed Lane embarked on a chest-making journey. Starting with chests, the family began to grow their product line, as well as their facility space.
After purchasing a new building, they officially began manufacturing recliners and more, and the Lane Furniture brand began. Today with five of the most advanced facilities in the world, there’s no question Lane Furniture is a technological frontrunner of high quality furniture!
Lane Furniture became a strong force in the furniture industry by quickly gaining a good reputation, as well as continuing to grow their product line. As for today, the wood and upholstery divisions have become what is now Lane Home Furnishings. Furniture Brands International, who also owns other well-known American brand name companies, such as, Broyhill, Thomasville, and Drexel Heritage, currently own Lane Furniture Industries.
